Pillows Add Pop To A Room
January 30, 2016Lists And More Lists – Wonderful Wednesday
February 3, 2016Regardless of our particular style vibe, most of us have more than a few denim pieces in our wardrobe. Check out this cute denim trench and drawstring pants.
Cute Denim Trench
I like to call denim jackets second tier staple items. While they may not fall into the top ten of priority wardrobe pieces, I definitely believe a good denim jacket should be part of your top 20. A well-styled jacket can add structure and visual interest to any casual outfit.
I was immediately drawn to this trench coat for it’s unique details and flattering shape. The tapered bottom and double-button closure front keep draw the waist in and keep the jacket from looking boxy. But, the best part of this trench is the back!
The cascading back is just too cute; especially when balanced against the tailored styling of the front.

I chose red, white and black to finish out the look. I bought these drawstring pants this summer at a Jones New York store that was going out of business. Did you know that Jones New York no longer has its own retail stores? However, they are still sold by other quality retailers, like Macy’s.
Drawstring Pants – How To Wear
Since I’ve thrown out some drawstring pants, I think it’s important to also give you some tips for how to wear them.
- These pants have a zipper, belt loops and a flat front. Beware of a drawstring waist because gathering at the waist immediately adds width and bulk.
- For cropped pants with drawstrings, make sure that the bottom of the pants do not flare out at the bottom because this will make your legs look shorter.
- Drawstring pants always have a casual vibe. Make sure you pair them with casual shoes.
- Chose shoes that do not cut at the ankle. Notice that I chose loafers to extend the visual line to continue down to the top of the foot.
Before I say goodbye, I want to invite you all back for the My Refined Style Linkup on Thursday!

Love this look! Your style and fashion tips have inspired me to focus a bit more on this part of my life. I frequently find that I am so busy with all the other things in life that require my attention, that I don’t pay much attention to myself. This is such a comfy yet stylish look, I’ll have to see what I can come up with this spring. Thanks for being part of the Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop! Nina @ Vintage Mama’s Cottage
