Step In Closer To Notice Beauty- Wonderful Wednesday
December 2, 2015How Much Do You Pay For Your Clothes?
December 7, 2015I couldn’t help but bring out another fabulous all-black outfit for this week’s My Refined Style Linkup! What can I say…black really is one of my favorite colors and when it comes to fashion over 40; when you find something that works, you wear it…A LOT! So today, I am wearing a Victorian-inspired black outfit.
My how time flies when you’re having fun! This week’s linkup really snuck up on me…in fact, I had myself convinced it was next week until one of the other gals reminded me. Hmm, it could be because my son comes in from college in less than two weeks and I am beside myself with excitement.
Victorian-Inspired Black Outfit
Victorian-inspired black is one of the seasonal trends for Fall and Winter. It is characterized by its intricate bead work. I have actually owned this blouse for over 15 years, although I have only worn it a handful of times. The bead work and sheer sleeves make it a perfect choice for a Christmas party that calls for a little extra flair.
Don’t you just love this pendant necklace?! I created it myself using a Christmas ornament from Brighton Jewelry. It was just too beautiful to hang on the tree. The all-black palette really allows it to take it’s rightful place as the show piece of the outfit!
However, the holiday fun doesn’t stop there…look at these fabulous bangles from Brighton. One has the names of all the reindeer and the other one lists some of our favorite Christmas carols. Sorry for you, I bought these several years ago, so they are no longer available 🙁
May your Christmas season be filled with joy and all the beautiful things the season brings. I hope you will also have time to kick off your shoes and enjoy it because in the blink of an eye it will be gone.

Thanks Silly Mummy…glad you stopped by!
Yes! I completely agree that you find what works for you and stick with it (updating, accordingly, of course ;-)). That is one of the benefits of being of a certain age and/or possessing a certain amount of self awareness and confidence…not chasing everyone else’s style. Beautiful turn of the ornament into a pendant!! Happy Friday!
Thanks for stopping by, Regina! That’s the beauty of aging, you have had plenty of time to figure out exactly what works 😉

Hi Jill, it was just too pretty to hide on a Christmas tree. Thanks for stopping by.
Talk about classy with a touch of sexy all at the same time!! You are such a stunner in black Shellie!! Yay, your boy will be home!!! Thanks for hosting beautiful friend!!
Yep, I’ve always been one for black. Thanks for co-hosting with me, Andrea!
What a clever idea to make a necklace from the bauble. I would never have known it was a Christmast decoration and it picks up the strap colour of your shoes! The blouse is beautifully delicate in its pattern.
