January 23, 2016The Show Must Go On – Wonderful Wednesday
January 27, 2016Some decades are marked by iconic fashion silhouettes. When you think of the 50’s, your mind immediately goes in one of two ways: the poodle skirt or the 50’s style shirt dress.
50’s Style Shirt Dress
I fell in love with this 50’s style shirt dress the minute I saw it! The collar and 3/4 length sleeves are oh-so figure flattering.
The simple lines of the dress make it easy to accessorize. I paired it with a Brighton leather belt, which I’ve owned for years. Brighton leather belts have been on my splurge list for years because of their quality design and unique metal work (although I usually choose styles I find on sale ;)) Here’s a similar Brighton belt.
I thought fishnet hose and cute Nine West heels would make the perfect pairing. The classic styling of these heels is the perfect height and very flattering to the leg. Here’s a similar pair from the Nine West site.
Patterned stockings, like these fishnets, are a popular trend for this season. They are an especially great choice to keep your legs covered if you live in colder temperatures. How about you…have you tried out the patterned stocking trend?
After looking at the pictures, I think I will add a crinoline slip underneath this dress for future wear. I think the slip would have added extra width to the bottom to balance out the shoulders. Still, I love the cool retro vibe; especially with these bifocal sunglasses from Readers.com.
For jewelry, I chose a glass pendant necklace I picked up in Singapore. Then, I added leather and glass-beaded bracelets in one of my favorite accent colors, yellow.

Hi Anna, aren’t those heels great?! Yes, the fishnets look great but they’re not always the most comfortable to wear 🙁
