53 Birthdays | Reflecting On The Seasons
September 10, 2020Little Black Casual Dress
September 23, 2020Wouldn’t it be great if every single day was puppies and rainbows?
I can remember my babies looking up with wide eyes as they asked, “Why can’t every day be my birthday?” To which I explained if every day was a birthday, then birthdays just wouldn’t feel special.
I guess I should take my own advice when I have days when I’m feeling put out…when things just don’t seem to go the way I think they should or wish they could.
It’s the “put out” days that increase my appreciation for God’s steadfast love and the promise that his mercies are new every morning.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases:
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
Questions To Ask Yourself When You Are Feeling Put Out
Have I prayed about it?
This seems like a logical step, but all too often we allow our emotions to run away with our perspective before ever thinking to give God a crack at it.
It’s amazing how much better you feel when you take the time to put words to your feelings. Take time to pour out your worries and cares to the one who actually has the power to do something about them.
Have I taken the time to consider what’s going right?
I’ve heard it described this way…You know the sun is bigger than a quarter. However, if you were to face the sun and hold a quarter up close to your eye, you could convince yourself that a quarter is bigger than the sun because it’s all you can see.
It may seem far-fetched when talking about the sun and a quarter, but we can easily pump so much attention into our problems that we lose sight of everything that’s actually going right in our lives.
Even when we’ve done all the “right” things, we all face days and seasons where things just don’t work out the way we want them to…
These are the times we can hold on to his steady love and trust in His faithfulness to carry us through to the next hour, the next day, and the next season…

I think we are all feeling a little put out more often lately due to Covid and our elections and life stress. I like your analogy of the quarter and the sun. Perspective is so important. Sometimes I just have to remind myself that there are lots of good things in my life and in the world.
Yes, I think it’s a healthy habit to take stock regularly of all the many blessings we experience every day.
