First, I want to say, “Merry Christmas,” to each and every one of you who share life with me week in and week out. We’ve spent quite a year together and I must admit that this blog has been a big part of it.

Soon after Manila shut down in mid-May, I realized that I wasn’t alone in Asia. The whole world was going into quarantine…we were all in this together.

I decided that this blog and my social media channels could draw us closer together in some small way or, at the very least, they would give me something to focus my attention on as one day bled into another and another and another. I pledged to find something funny, interesting or encouraging to post each day.

²⁴ And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, ²⁵ not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

This blog kept me going…you kept me going!

I pray this Christmas season fills your hearts with joy and renews your hope. This year, we have a real opportunity to experience the “reason for the season.” Yes, we know that it’s all about Jesus coming to earth as a baby, but Christmas in a “normal” year is usually so busy that we never have an extra moment to appreciate how His birth invests our life with meaning and gives us reason to be joyful in all circumstances.

I also want to give myself the opportunity to receive my own infusion of joy and hope, so I am taking a break until 2021.
