Dress Over Jeans – My Refined Style #14
November 3, 2016Celebrate With Me! – Book Promo
November 11, 2016The warm weather is really holding its own here in Florida, which means the boots aren’t getting too much play time. We are heading toward the “mainland” this weekend to visit our college kids, so clothes packing should be interesting. Will it be cool or warm…hmmm, the mystery of it all this time of year?!
I’m mixing things up with a black and white striped maxi skirt.
Maxi Skirt
I bought this black and white striped maxi skirt years ago and I would say I’ve probably worn it two times. I often overlook this skirt because I am looking for more than the typical black top over a black and white skirt. But today, I decided to style this striped maxi skirt as a neutral with some unexpected colors and textures.
In this outfit, the striped maxi skirt acts as an unexpected neutral.
I used this denim shirt as a “jacket” over this light gray top. The lace trim on the bottom of the top adds an unexpected twist to the stark lines of the skirt.
Then, I added some turquoise jewelry for a pop of color.
Finally, I kept the bottom simple with Pabder lace-up leather shoes.

The weather has changed but I refuse to put away my maxi skirts – just going to wear them with boots! #TopoftheWorldinkup
I think it’s fun to figure out new ways to transition clothing pieces.
Okay, I just can’t stop looking at the necklace! Same weather here in Houston…I miss chunky sweaters and boots 24/7, but I don’t miss the frigid temps on Northern VA.
Yes, that turquoise really does draw attention. I HATE to be cold!
Love the necklace Shellie and the denim top as a jacket. Lovely! Enjoy the weather!
