Road Trip – Favorite Things
June 30, 2016This week I’m finally back with some simple sophisticated style. I didn’t intend to go this long without a Monday fashion post, but then sometimes life has a way of serving up a little something that you didn’t see coming.
I knew our move from Manila to Tampa, Florida would take a little adjustment. But, I failed to account for the little part where I leave my laptop at the Newark airport TSA check point…nope, I didn’t have that figured into the plan.
Hmm, I’m sure there is a sad country song out there somewhere called, “Lost With No Laptop,” or at least there should be! Without my little laptop…I had no pictures, no files and the sad little list goes on and on.
Thankfully, my sad tale has a happy ending as I am typing on my little lost laptop friend right now. The moral of the story is…life goes on just fine without a laptop, but blogs not so much 😉
Simple Sophisticated Style
Sometimes, the most simple outfit can make the biggest impact.
This simple sophisticated style consists of a top, pants, heels and vintage necklace.
I picked up this lovely taffeta top on a trip to Singapore. I was especially drawn to the unique teal color. Since I wanted the top to be the star of the show, I kept everything else simple.
Again, I brought out my favorite Banana Republic Sloan pants and leopard sling-back heels. Then, I remembered a vintage necklace that belonged to my grandmother and I knew it would provided just the right finish to the look!
Do you have any heirloom jewelry tucked away in a jewelry box? Maybe it’s time you pulled it out to wear. It really is a nice tribute and makes a lot more sense than having those pieces hidden away under layers of tissue paper.
I’m really glad to be back and I so appreciate those of you who’ve been keeping up with my little saga.

Hi Shellie!
You look so classy! I’m on a cruise and forgot my necklaces and chains.
Thanks for bringing your post to the Blogger’s Pit Stop last week.

Yay for happy endings. Bloglovin’ was acting really funky when I first pulled up this post. I missed the whole first part of the post where you explained about the laptop. I have a lot of trouble with Bloglovin’ making it difficult to open pics but not text! Anyway, this is also the second time I have tried to comment. Not lovin’ Bloglovin’ tonight. I am sooo enjoying my new Shellie-inspired haircut. Have you recently gone shorter? Love it!! And this outfit is sophisticated to a T. Lovely, lady…lovely lady.
Hi Leslie, I have two styles…short and shorter!
Oh my! I probably would have panicked, although I know that doesnt get you anywhere. Glad you were able to get your laptop back. Hopefully things will settle with your move. This top is a gorgeous color on you, jewel tones and sophisticated.
thanks for linking up with turning heads tuesday

I was so happy to get it back!
Hi Shellie, Your necklace is beautiful and yes I have a ton of heirloom jewelry and do on occasion bring it out. I just dont dress up so much any more. I also make jewelry and love to wear.
Thank you for stopping by #OMHGFF to share your blog, I appreciate it,
I hope where ever you are this holiday you will have a wonderful time and be safe!!
It is fun to pull out the vintage pieces every now and then! I hope your holiday was fabulous.
Shellie this is such a glamorous outfit. You look amazing in what I thought was going to be a full length gown and then revealed itself to just be a wonderfully fitted top. I love how you played it down with the trousers and then raised the ante with those wonderful shoes. Beautifully done girl!
