Christmas In Manila – Wonderful Wednesday
December 9, 2015
Colorful Sheath Dress Over Pants And Featured Looks From MRS Linkup
December 14, 2015I am so excited to partner with Katherine from Katherine’s Corner for her holiday decor challenge! I love Christmas and I love home decor, so it seemed like a perfect opportunity to share my southern style holiday decor for the Holiday Magazine My Way Challenge; especially since I don’t get to do much with home decor on the blog.
Back in November Katherine, from Katherines Corner, invited her readers to join her in what she hoped would become an annual event, the Holiday Magazine My Way Challenge.
The instructions were to use a new or old holiday magazine cover (November/December) as our inspiration. Recreate it our way- by creating a copy using our own items. Or recreate the cover with our vision. All participants will be included in a random drawing and 2 winners will each receive a one year subscription to Veranda Magazine, Elle Decor or House Beautiful magazine (winner’s choice).
Holiday Decor – Southern Style In Asia
It didn’t take me long to decide where my holiday magazine inspiration would come from. I have always loved Southern Living Magazine, so I met my challenge using their Christmas With Southern Living 2015!
I drew my Christmas decor inspiration from the silver, gold and red styling of this fabulous cover. Then, I added a touch of blue with ceramic ornaments and my set of Bluebrook vintage plates.
The Bluebrook plates were a gift from my Aunt and I purchased the blue and white ceramics years ago from a ceramics factory in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
My home decor is heavily influence by my years in Asia. I have picked up a few pieces here and there, so everything has a contemporary Asian vibe. I added the fun holiday pillow to remind me of my Southern roots. You know what they say, “You can take the girl out of the South, but….you can NEVER take the South out of the girl.” Thank goodness for that!
I hope you have enjoyed taking just a little step into my heart and home for this Holiday Magazine My Way Challenge – Southern Style Meets Asia. And, I want to say a special thanks to my sweet friend Tonia for helping the pictures come alive on the screen.

All of the decorating is stunning, Shellie. Although the cardinal wreath is a show stopper, I can’t even choose a favorite piece. It’s put together beautifully!
Thanks Robin! I really enjoyed the opportunity to do a decor piece because I don’t usually do those on my blog.
