Jergens Natural Glow Face – Favorite Things
July 28, 2016Favorite Things Celebrates 250 Weeks
August 4, 2016Let’s talk about how to dress for a theme park. My little family of four recently took a 4-day trip to Disney World to celebrate my daughter’s recent high school graduation. Theme parks can be especially tricky for the fashion conscious woman.
I find it necessary to break a few of my own fashion rules in order to get through the day. For one, I wear athletic tennis shoes. Don’t get me wrong, I own several pair of athletic shoes, but I usually reserve them for the gym. However, there is no way this girl can walk around a theme park all day without a good pair of shoes!
How To Dress For A Theme Park
Here are a few tips for how to dress for a theme park and still maintain a bit of style.
1. Plan outfits that match your athletic tennis shoes.
Your tennis shoes don’t have to look like an afterthought. Instead, choose a color palette that incorporates or coordinates with your shoes.
2. Remember that some inside venues are chilly.
It’s tough to dress for a day of walking in and out of air-conditioned venues. This is where a light sweater can really come in handy. A light sweater can be easily tied around the waist without adding extra bulk.
3. Downsize your purse.
No one wants to lug a heavy purse around all day, but there are certain essential items you won’t want to be without. Plan to take a small waist pack or cross-shoulder purse with you.
4. Make sure to pack shades or a hat.
I am not much for hats, but my sunglasses really come in handy. I especially like my reading sunglasses from readers.com! These sun readers make it possible for me to actually read the park map with my sunglasses on!
OK, so maybe this last pic wasn’t the most practical, but when in Disney?!

Between keeping cool, keeping comfortable, and looking cute, I agree that there’s certainly a lot of thought it takes to dress for theme parks! As a native Central Florida gal, I’ve had a lot of practice, too!
It does take a little thought, that’s for sure!
I love the hat!!! You look casual but stylish and comfortable for a day walking around a theme park. Looks like you had so much fun! Your post made me smile!
Thanks Sue…we had a blast!
Those are all great tips, thanks for sharing. I never thought about matching my outfit to the color of my tennis shoes. I do use a waist pack though, rather than carry around my purse.
I am glad the tips helped you, Brenda.
Well, you managed to look great at the theme park! Matching your tennis shoes to your outfit is definitely the greatest challenge in my opinion. We went to Germany in July, and I wore my black tennis shoes (I love them because they blend in with dark jeans so nicely). I’ve had them for years and need to replace them soon, but I haven’t been able to find anything I like. I’m starting to panic a bit… π
Hi Andrea. With tennis shoes, it’s not so much that I can’t find something that I like. Instead, I have trouble finding a pair I am willing to pay for…they are so expensive!
Shellie, since I am a new grandmother, I can see a trip back to Disney World in the next few years! Good tips!
You will make such awesome memories with your little ones as I did with my big ones!
fun outfit! looks like such a cool trip!
Thanks Tianna. It was a great time with our whole family together!
