All-Black Outfit With Colorful Bag – My Refined Style Linkup #9
June 2, 2016Lost Laptop At Airport Security
June 9, 2016I love wearing red! It’s my signature color.
Wearing Red
I love how the red blouse pops against this horizontal striped pencil skirt. Originally, this black and white striped skirt ended above the knee and I didn’t care for how it cut off my leg. I had a seamstress add the wide black strip to the bottom to create a much more interesting look.
Even though the skirt hits below the knee, it works because it is tapered close to the leg.
I also styled this outfit in two different ways to show how different accessories and jewelry choices can change the whole look of an outfit.
When you read this, I will be jetting my way across the Pacific back to my home state of Florida. Recently, I wrote my monthly fashion feature for Making Midlife Matter on finding your signature color . Head over to the MMM site for some tips on finding your own.

Red looks good on you. What a clever way to lengthen a skirt! I really need to start caring about what I wear again. It’s been long skirts and t-shirts ever since I became a mom (21 years ago). ^_^

When we look our best, it just gives us a little extra dose of confidence. Now that your daughter is grown you may be in just the place to reinvent yourself a little bit.
Something about this combo is always so chic!
Thank you for being a part of TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you soon!

Absolutely LOVE the red! I have figured out that red needs to be RED. A washed-out version is not flattering for anyone. Just found your blog and love it. Thanks for the inspiration!

That looks stunning on you. It is strange though, with red blue and green, some shades of those colors can look great and yet a different shade may do nothing spectacular.
You nailed it with that red.
Love you being here to share.

Thanks Kath!
I love to wear red too! Adding the extra black stripe to the skirt was genius. Hope you have your computer back by the time you read this!
Thanks Cathy!
Red is Best…..On You and I love it, so classy and for many years I have worn it with black white and denim. I am always drawn to clothes when shopping!!
Thanks for sharing your article on the #OMHGFF this week!!
And now I am sharing your post!!
Thanks so much for sharing, Karren!
Red is the colour of my heart, and red is the colour my heart chooses 🙂 which begs the question – why is there only one red item of clothing in my entire wardrobe?? I suppose I do try to make up for the shortfall where shoes are concerned GRIN you, my friend, look spectacular in your red/B&W outfit. Really spectacular.

Sheela, I am the same…I only have a handful of red clothing items. I think that is because they don’t really sell a lot of red clothing in stores.
Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style
Red is perfect for you! And how cool is it that you added the bottom band on your skirt! It looks amazing!
I only recently have discovered my best colors since blogging and taking selfies! I am always drawn to deeper, more earthy colors (burgundy, navy blue, olive green) and then I realized as I scrolled through my IG photos that while these colors are not bad on me, red, royal blue, and bright pink are so much better! The way the photos pop when I wear those colors is incredible. Plus the comments I receive when I wear those colors indicate these are my best colors! And that is how I have discovered my colors! So I encourage my friends to take selfies to help find their signature color and/or style!

Yes Shelbee, it helps a lot to take in the input of others. If everyone else likes a color on you, then it should be considered!
Red is without a doubt your signature colour. You look so happy and vibrant in it. The striped skirt is a great shape with this top and the whole look is elegant, yet fun too. I would think that orange is my signature colour as I feel so alive when I wear it.
Have a great week!

Yes Jess, I am really going to miss my seamstress while I am in the US!
Hi Shellie, I love a strong colour combo and the red does suit you. I think the use of a belt is a great idea to define your body shape
Anna, I’m crazy about belts!
Red is one of my fave colors to wear too! It’s such a bold but fun color, right?

Yes, you can’t be a wall flower in a red dress 😉
