One can easily detect the subtle beauty of details in monochrome. That’s why we all love to look at black and white photos. A black and white palette allows your eye to focus on the details, rather than being distracted by color.
I’m so excited to be back for the My Refined Style Fashion Over 40 Linkup #7. The calendar afforded us a few extra days between linkups this time, which I quite appreciated since March was packed with Spring break and Easter.
But, it’s been long enough and I’m ready to see what my fabulous fashionista friends have to share this week.
Details In Monochrome
When deciding what to share for this post, I immediately gravitated to this monochromatic outfit. Even though Spring is a season bursting with color, you and I both know women over 40 love to wear their black…myself included.
So, I never like to go too long without giving the people what they want…smile. Black and white is an extremely versatile combination that offers endless possibilities for refined elegance or understated chic; depending how you are feeling on any particular day.
Still, it’s the details in monochrome that can take an outfit from humdrum to spectacular.
This monochromatic outfit is rich on details. I came across this top in a discount store and had to have it. The faux leather sleeves make such a nice contrast with the peekaboo quality of the crocheted body. The skin showing through also keeps the top from looking too heavy against the lace skirt.
The faux leather accent is then carried over to the taupe obi belt. An obi belt is an excellent way to accessorize any skirt with an elastic waist. Since elastic does not provide much structure, the belt cinches the waist and creates shape for a look that could easily turn frumpy.
I top the look off with simple ankle strap heels.
These black BCBGeneration heels easily rank as one of the best pair of heels I have ever owned. Of course, they are super cute, but much more importantly, they have an extremely well-cushioned sole that makes them super comfortable.
