How To Be More Confident
March 19, 2016Make Small Moments Count-Wonderful Wednesday
March 23, 2016Today I’m wearing a 6 piece capsule wardrobe made up of six foundation pieces every girl should own.
It feels so good to be back into the normal groove this week. I spent most of last week doing a redesign of my website, so I had to step back a little from my normal posting schedule, but now I’m back and raring to go!
6 Piece Capsule Wardrobe
Capsule wardrobes are the topic dujour of fashion these days. So, I decided to put together a capsule comprised of six wardrobe items that I believe every woman should possess:
- button-up blouse
- black tank
- white boyfriend jeans
- black slacks
- blue skinny jeans
- black pencil skirt
You can see some of my tips for changing up this capsule wardrobe in my recent post on Making Midlife Matter.
These six foundation pieces all fall in the monochromatic color scheme, which makes it very easy to add other colors to the mix. I am partial to red and yellow, so I incorporated these colors in with my jewelry.
I recently received a comment from Janet who said, “ I’ve always found that I make a beeline for the bright, patterned, glittery, colourful items when I’m out shopping – have to make a conscious effort to make sure I buy the more boring basics needed to make it all work!”
She hit it right on the head with this comment. The reason why so many women have trouble mixing and matching different items in their wardrobe is because they don’t have enough “boring” foundation pieces to fill in the gaps!
Now, I wouldn’t call these pieces “boring”… I prefer to use the word versatile.
Even with basic pieces, the “wow” is always in the accessories!
Once you have these six staple pieces, you can easily use them as the foundation to create countless other wardrobe possibilities.

Yes Jennie, it’s easy to get into a rut of wearing a certain item of clothing only one way. I always love your looks and your party!
