Fun Sized Chocolate Moment – Wonderful Wednesday
February 24, 2016The little black dress is an essential for every woman’s wardrobe. How about a little black dress worn 4 ways?
Little Black Dress (LBD) Worn 4 Ways
We all know the the little black dress reigns supreme when it comes the female wardrobe. But, what you may not realize is that your little black dress can be worn with more than just a strappy pair of sandals.
The sheath style offers the most versatility. This little black dress from Jones New York (here’s a similar LBD) is a perfect starting point for mixing things up…here’s a little black dress worn 4 ways.
This little black dress is extremely well made of quality fabric that gives it structure and weight. I chose a gold accented statement necklace to play off of the gold grommet accents across the bottom of the dress.
I have paired a sheath dress over pants on the blog before (sheath dress over pants and 70’s trend). I love this combination. It adds an easy, casual feel and it’s a great choice for cooler temperatures.
For this look, I chose to play up the gold accents, which really pop against the black back drop.
This time I took the look a step more casual by adding another wardrobe staple, the denim shirt and a mother of pearl pendant necklace.
Last, but not least, I’m adding a belt and boots. Don’t be afraid to mix up brown and black.
So, have I got your creative juices going? Do you have a black sheath dress just waiting to come out and play in a new way? If so, it’s time to pull it out and give it new life with one of these ideas.

A black sheath dress is my absolute favorite, so I truly enjoyed seeing the variations in style options you presented here, Shellie! The grommet detailing on your hem is such a great detail. Thanks for linking up and enjoy your weekend.
Hi Jennie…yes, you are the sister of skirts and dresses! I always appreciate that you like them as much as I do.
Great fashion ideas Shellie, I like #2 and then #1, I would love to find a little dress like that, I love black and when traveling I pack almost all white black with some pops of color. Make it really easy.
Thank you for sharing on #OMHGFF and Tweeting!!
Have a great weekend!
Karren
Hi Karren. I agree that neutrals make the best traveling pieces. It’s so easy to mix and match them that way.
I love this with the shirt, I never think to do something like that. I’m going to have a look through my wardrobe, see if I can recreate this look with something from the depths somewhere!
I’m excited to hear you are inspired to try something new, Julie! I’m so glad you stopped by!
Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style. LBD are really camellions
Shellie, I seriously love all 4 variations, so creative and unique, but they all work exceptionally well. Wish I could pick a favorite but I would wear anyone of those in a heart beat, well done! And thanks for the ideas.
Thanks Trina, I love that you loved them all!
you look lovely in all of these options. I like a piece of clothing that can be worn all different ways. But…don’t judge me ( kidding) I don’t own a black dress xo
Gasp…hehe, black is definitely not a one color fits all color, so you’re all good!
Great ideas for varied ways to wear a black dress. I specially love your accessories.

Wow, thanks for all the inspiration, Shellie! Love every look you’ve put together but if I had to choose I’d pick #2. What a fabulous reinvention of the LBD! The gold accents are fabulous! I just may have to steal this idea 😉

Thanks Patti!
I love the dress! Thanks for styling in all the different ways. I probably would only wear it as a dress or with a shirt underneath. I am not a fan of the pants under a dress look, although it is coming as a trend. You, however, can make everything look great.
Thanks Tania! That’s the beauty of fashion. We can all pick what works for our personalities and bodies.
