Midlife Perspective On Weight, Fitness and Priorities
February 6, 2016Love and Valentines – Wonderful Wednesday
February 10, 2016Sharing what I really wore – patterned pants.
I’m keeping it real this week with another installment of “What I Really Wore.” A few weeks ago I taught a reading workshop to a group of Filipino teachers from across the Manila area. On days like this I like to be casual, but still maintain a professional look.
I picked up these H&M print pants around Christmas and I am crazy about them! I thought these would be just perfect for the day.
Patterned Pants – How To Wear
The thought of patterned pants can be a little intimidating for some, but they don’t have to be. When it comes to patterned pants, it’s important to keep everything else pretty simple. Three quarter length jersey shirts are great staple pieces because they are comfortable to wear, but they also make you look polished and put together.
Notice that I used the partial tuck-in for this outfit. This keeps the front of the outfit tidy, while softening the back view by eliminating such an “expanse” of pattern 😉 Then, I used a slim black leather belt.
Add some Aerosole black wedges and I’m ready to go! I found some similar ones on clearance at Famous Footwear for 64% off.
I kept the accessories pretty simple for this look by going with one of my favorites…stainless steel. I received this stainless steel Fossil necklace as a Christmas gift a couple of years ago.
Have a fabulous week!

You look great in this outfit. I love it all. I can no long tuck my pants in, though. Sigh. So I’d need a blouse that covers my midlife belly and tush. I love your shoes and necklace too.
Thanks Cathy!
Hi Shellie, love your patterned pants, so lovely 🙂
Thanks for sharing at the weekend blog hop
Thanks Claire!
Great look. I love 3/4 length shirts. I need to stock up when I find some good quality ones. Also need to start the partial tuck. Learning from you all the time, Shellie!
Thanks Cathy, yes the 3/4 length shirt is one of those foundation pieces I was telling you about.

You look great, happy , comfortable and confident in what you are wearing and I agree with all your choices. (I think the ‘confident’ bit is important.) haven’t heard of the ‘partial tuck’ before – I’m going to go with it!
Let me know if the partial tuck works for you, Miss Cellany.
You look great! I’m going to have to try the “partial tuck” on shirts. I see this a lot on blogs but haven’t tried it.
I think you’ll like it Debbie. It’s a regular go-to styling option for me anymore.
