When it comes to classic style, I never rely on the trends to determine my fashion choices. However, every now and then, a trend comes along that hits me right in my happy place! I found just that in the Fall 2015 trend, head-to-toe black. Now, here’s a trend that I can fully embrace with both arms and a kiss on the cheek!

Some of these styles from NY Fashion Week may be a little more avant garde than you are used to, but they all feature intricate details. When it comes to head-to-toe black, the beauty is in the details.

black head to toe

black head to toeI am a major fan of black, so this outfit put me right in my element. I also love to win prizes, so I decided it’s time to give my readers a little #giveaway action to get the Fall started off right.

There are a number of details that keep this outfit from becoming a sea of black. First, the top features a sheer overlay. This provides a textural dimension to the blouse.

I paired the blouse with a bow belt and black jewelry accessories; including a lovely Fossil Stainless Steel ring I just got for my birthday.

Have you been sporting your own head-to-toe black outfits lately? If so, I would like to give a special invite to all you over-40 fashionistas to join the inaugural My Refined Style, Fashion Over 40 Linkup (monthly) this Thursday.  My Refined Style Button

This week, I will have an additional Thursday fashion post for the linkup. There, I will be changing up this outfit by adding accessories that pop against an all-black canvas. So, come back!

However, sometimes I play with colors and put together a bit crazy combinations (purple and teal, orange and burgundy…) they go well with my hair though.

  13. I love the all black as well. So classic, edgy, and sophisticated. I recently styled an all black outfit with a gorgeous turquoise statement necklace (the only color I had on). I had been making a move away from black and realized I hadn’t even worn a stitch of black in most of my outfits, so I figured that now Fall is here, I could try out the all black again. And it felt fresh and new!
