This week we celebrate love and Valentines. It’s Wonderful Wednesday!

Love and Valentines

Valentine’s Day is an interesting holiday to me. I mean it doesn’t really commemorate any special victory or event. It’s just a unique day for celebrating love and Valentines. And let me tell you, it’s a big huge deal here in Asia.

Now, I have no problem with acknowledging love. In fact, I enjoy having a nice dinner out with my man to celebrate the day each year. I guess I just like the idea of showing and sharing love each and every day, rather than saving it all up for one. But then, hey it’s an excellent excuse to eat chocolate!

Sometimes, things just don’t work out as planned, but the show must go on!

The Show Must Go On

Losing the internet is nothing new here in Manila. In fact, there are stretches of time where it’s a daily occurrence. But it typically pops back on and I can get my online work done. However this time, it’s gone dark for a full day and I have no clue when it will be fixed.

So, here I am, sitting in the school lobby with my laptop on my “lap” typing out today’s post because, the show must go on!

How’s your week been? Are there some circumstances or situations that are less than optimal? If so, take heart in knowing you’re not alone.

Here we are in the middle of January in the middle of the week…it’s Wonderful Wednesday! I had the interesting experience of catching a parade as it rolled past my front door last Sunday.

Catching A Parade

I walked out of my house on Sunday morning to see a parade passing by my front door. What you see here is the beginning and end of the parade.

I actually tried to catch the whole event, but I was too busy catching a parade to realize I never actually pressed the record button…ugh, story of my photographic life! I can honestly say I will never have a job of photographing the latest scoop in my lifetime. All you would end up seeing a lot of people’s backs as I caught them after the fact!

Oh well, there is a lesson to be learned here that has nothing to do with my photography skills, or lack of them. Make sure to actually catch the parade of life as it passes by because you’re too busy fiddling with your camera…or your job, or your disappointments.

For some of you, the winter doldrums are probably kicking in about now. On this Wonderful Wednesday, why don’t you think of ways to add a little color to your life!

Add A Little Color To Your Life!

Winter weather can easily magnify blah feelings. Everything seems just a little bit harder when you’re having to wade through snow or struggle with three layers of clothing.

Of course I don’t really have any “winter” to speak of in the tropics, but I’ve seen quite a few pictures taken by my frozen friends. But then, it’s not always the weather that gets you down. Sometimes, you look around and all you see is blah…same old job, same old commute and same old routine.

If this is how you feel, then it’s time for a “pull yourself up by your boot straps” moment. We choose joy…joy doesn’t choose us. If you are feeling blah, then do something to change your situation.  If the canvas around you is way too monochromatic, shake it up by adding some color. Wear a red scarf; bake a lemon pie or do something nice for someone else to bring a little color to their face. Add a little color to your life!

Here we are on the first Wednesday of a new year! My son just left crazy early this morning to return to college in the US and this mama is trying to shake it off and get back into the groove.

Yesterday I was reading one of my favorite websites, Still Being Molly and she has come up with a fabulous list of 366 Random Acts Of Kindness (she even took the leap year into account)! She’s got me inspired to consciously share the love this year and I thought I would invite each of you to join me.

What better way is there to celebrate each Wonderful Wednesday than to share the love with others?! I believe this simple exercise can really help us all to realign our perspectives and mindsets to make each week truly wonderful. Are you with me?
