Admittedly, inspiration is an essential part of fashion blogging. Because of this, I often style outfits in a creative way so that my readers can take something away that they might want to use or try themselves. But, I also realize I am writing for real women who are living real lives.
So, I decided to add a new monthly feature to fab fashion over 40. Today is my first addition of “What I Really Wore.” Once a month I will feature an actual outfit…exactly the way I wore it!
Here’s how I wore this pink gingham blouse earlier in the summer. I mean, let’s face it, we wear our clothes more than once!
Often, we relegate pastel colors to Spring and Summer. But, I think pastels can be carried into the cool months. The important thing is finding a darker color to anchor the lighter pastel colors. This gives them a heavier feel that is more suited to cooler temperatures. Not only does the black anchor the breezy pink color, but it provides an attractive contrast.

Do you have a pastel button-up to give this look a try? If you don’t, it might be time to check out your local second-hand or consignment store. In fact, that’s exactly where I found my pink gingham blouse from Land’s End…oh, and did I mention it cost me $4.00?
